Lok Fund for Excellence in Research and Training. This Fund will encourage the academic careers of exceptional trainees by supporting an annual Advanced/Transplant Hepatology Award. The $30,000 Award provides research support to boost the awardee's career as an academic hepatologist during his/her first faculty year at an academic institution that will provide protected time to the applicant to perform mentored research. Dr. Lok has made a significant gift to permanently endow this Award. The Paul Angulo Travel Award for Best Abstract in Clinical NAFLD Dr. Angulo was an exceptional clinical researcher who earned international prestige for his work on autoimmune and fatty liver disease. The goal of the award is to encourage clinical research in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. The award will be given to the young investigator submitting the most promising abstract in clinical research related to NAFLD to The Liver Meeting®. Cathcart for her many years of dedicated service as the Executive Director of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases. The Professor Margit Hamosh Travel Award This award honors the life and legacy of Dr. Hamosh, a holocaust survivor and distinguished pediatrics professor at Georgetown University. This award is presented to a fellow or junior investigator who submits the most outstanding abstract on hepatocellular carcinoma research for The Liver Meeting®. Award: $2,500; contingent upon availability of funding support each year. The Maribel Rodriguez-Torres Travel Award Dr. Rodríguez -Torres was a renowned researcher and treater of HCV. She treated her patients with the utmost respect and care, and never gave up fighting for a cure for Hepatitis C. A pioneer for the latest treatments for HIV-HCV patients, Maribel dedicated her entire life to her work. The goal of this memorial award is to encourage young investigators residing in Latin America or Spain in the area of Hepatitis C. Seeff Award for Outstanding Research by a Young Investigator This award is named in in recognition of Dr. Leonard B.
